Educational Robotics

Engineering Empathy & Innovation

We use robotics not as an end, but as a pedagogical tool. By integrating STEAM learning and socio-emotional education, we empower children in highly vulnerable communities to design, create and transform their realities.

The Problem: Education in Chile

Today, Chile leads Latin America in education, health, and income, ranking 45th on the UN Human Development Index. However, a deep inequality persists. In high-vulnerability areas—like El Carmen, Valparaíso, and Santiago—schools face critical gaps in technological education and holistic development.

Furthermore, more than half of the students experience symptoms of stress and anxiety. Our Educational Robotics Program directly addresses this dual challenge: the limited access to technology and the urgent need for socio-emotional well-being.

Bridging the Technological and Emotional Gap

In areas like El Carmen, Valparaíso, Santiago, and Macul, the Index of School Vulnerability often reaches well past the 70% marker. Schools face critical gaps in technological education and holistic development.

Our 12-session curriculum addresses these gaps. Using LEGO Spike™ sets and free applications, we lower the technical barriers for schools. Students learn to program while simultaneously fostering coexistence, empathy, and collaborative problem-solving.

The Final Challenge

In their final project, teams design a map of their surroundings and build a robot to navigate it, identifying the emotions those spaces evoke. Technological learning becomes a profound reflection on identity, memory, and belonging.

Highly Scalable

Because it doesn't require complex infrastructure, expansion across new territories depends mainly on acquiring more LEGO sets.

OUR SHARED DNA

More Than Just Robots

Educational Robotics shares the same pedagogical foundation as all Good Neighbors Chile programs. We adhere strictly to moral and ethical standards rooted in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Human Dignity First

We view each student not just as a learner of technology, but as a person with a voice, abilities, and transformative potential. We foster respect, justice, and fairness in every session.

Collaborative Design

Design is a central pedagogical tool. Teams design functional prototypes, make decisions, correct mistakes, and redesign. It addresses social conflict by inviting dialogue about shared spaces.

Teacher Empowerment

We build sustainable learning experiences by training local teachers and facilitators. By collaborating with educators and valuing local knowledge, the program adapts to each community.

They design. They Create. They innovate.

By putting technology at the service of holistic development, we are not just teaching children how to code; we are teaching them how to build a better community.

Help Us Scale the Impact

The program is highly efficient and scalable. We need more LEGO Spike sets to reach new high-vulnerability schools across Chile.
